Save Money. Eat Green
5th December 2009
While we usually like to wax
lyrical ourselves about the ways our customer use our bags, in this
case we had a nice note from the chaps at Paris-based international
bank Societe Generale. They replaced disposable lunch bags in their restaurant with reusable, carbon neutral ones made of jute. And they tell us:
"We introduced Canby bags at our company in August 2009. The project, called Bags for Life, was designed to slash the use of paper bags at our Deli by encouraging employees to reuse their Bag for Life for lunch. Although we expected bags to be used only in the Deli, we often see people using them for their lunch purchases outside the building!
"An initial sample questionnaire found that men would not be as keen to use them yet now we get as many requests for bags from men than we do from women. The feedback has been great. We conducted a desk delivery for the launch and many employees thanked us saying it was a great initiative.
"Bags for Life will contribute to our 17% target reduction in CO2 emissions by 2012 and has the added benefit of raising employee awareness about sustainability and waste. At this stage we estimate the scheme will cut the use of 50,000 paper bags and create £2,800 in savings per year. In a few words, a perfect win-win situation!"
We couldn't have put it better ourselves.
