Braintree's problem solved 11 / 07 / 2009

Maybe it is something to do with the Ford plant  at Dagenham: Essex is a county of car lovers. They likenothing better than to pile into the motor and zoom around the county, eating, drinking and maybe even smoking on the go. All this generates a surprising amount of litter, some of which might be simply thrown out of the car window, ending up decorating the curbs, verges and hedgerows. In fact, 91 per cent of UK street litter is caused by people chucking their rubbish out of their cars!

Our friends at Braintree District Council decided to do something about it, and so we designed this smart wee reusable bag for car litter. Made of heavy gauge cotton, it folds neatly into the glove compartment, ready to receive all manner of trash which can then be disposed of responsibly. Many people complained that their glove compartment was so full of litter that there was no room for the bag, but the scheme has now caught on.
Another example of how Canby works with local authorities to raise waste awareness.
