Textiles, like whiskies, sometimes benefit from judicious blending. Jute is a coarse, “hairy” material which (despite its many excellent qualities) does not suit everyone. Cotton is not the most environmentally friendly textile, because it needs irrigation, pesticides and fertilisers. Compared to jute, it lacks strength.
By blending 75% jute and 25% cotton, we have created JuCo - a strong, fine-woven material that has the best qualities of both fibres and the look and feel of coarse linen. Because the weave is very tight we can print fine detail that would not render well on jute, and the finished product is truly a class above.
This material has been widely available for many years but has become more popular recently as a high-end alternative to jute and cotton.
